The story behind the bottle.

Scentsation editorial

Calice Becker crafted Killing Me Slowly for By Kilian in 2014, a fragrance that intertwines fruity and floral notes to create an aldehydic bouquet. The composition opens with black currant and litchi, which combine to evoke the sweetness of summer berries, while buchu or agathosma adds a fresh, herbal note. As it evolves, rose and heliotrope emerge, blending into a powdery heart that is softened by hawthorn and iris. The base notes of vanilla provide warmth and depth, ensuring a scent that feels both luxurious and approachable.

How to wear it

Apply this fragrance to pulse points for optimal longevity — the fruity top notes will fade within an hour but the powdery heart and vanilla base will linger throughout the day. It's best suited for daytime wear when its fresh and warm character can shine.

Flowers inside a bottle of eau de cologne

Calice Becker (Asancheyev-Becker) is a French master perfumer and director of the Givaudan Perfumery School, whose fascination with perfume began as a child asking how flowers get inside a bottle of eau de cologne.

“I like to add a dose of intrigue because nothing catches the attention of a touch of something unexpected.”
