Launched in 1980 by the esteemed French perfume house Houbigant, Ciao is a chypre floral fragrance that marries freshness and depth with a rich blend of notes. The opening is bright and green, with cumin and basil lending a fresh spicy edge to lemon and other fruits. This gives way to a heart rich in white florals like osmanthus and jasmine, grounded by the earthy warmth of orris root and rose. The base notes are a woody ensemble of palisander rosewood, sandalwood, and patchouli, with a touch of leather adding an intriguing edge.
