Le Dix Perfume by Balenciaga is a Chypre Floral fragrance for women. Le Dix Perfume was launched in 1947. The nose behind this fragrance is Francis Fabron. Top notes are Aldehydes, Coriander, Peach, Bergamot and Lemon; middle notes are Lilac, Orris Root, Ylang-Ylang, Lily-of-the-Valley, Rose, Jasmine and Almond; base notes are Civet, Sandalwood, Musk, Benzoin, Vanilla, Vetiver, Amber, Peru Balsam, Tonka Bean and Patchouli. Le Dix Perfume was launched in 1947 as a gentle, classic floral scent for evening. Delicate, powdery, dark violets can be felt through a sparkling veil of bergamot and lemon, giving the main motive to the whole composition. The opulent heart opens with rose and ylang-ylang and, after a while, their strong floral scent is toned down by aldehydes. Subtle vanilla dominates in the base bringing an interesting accord into this classic composition. The notes are: bergamot, lemon, ylang-ylang, rose, lily-of-the-valley, iris, musk, vanilla, sandalwood and vetiver.

Francis Fabron

Francis Fabron was a French perfumer trained at the Givaudan Perfumery School in Paris who began his career as a junior perfumer at Roure Bertrand Fils. In the 1940s he became known for sparkling aldehydic fragrances, and in 1957 created L'Interdit for Givenchy, originally composed as a personal fragrance for Audrey Hepburn before its public release made it a sensation. He also created Nina Ricci's L'Air du Temps in 1948, one of the most enduring perfumes in history, along with fragrances for Balenciaga and Robert Piguet, known for their delicate, feminine sophistication.
