The story behind the bottle.
Launched in 2025 by Memoirs Of A Perfume Collector, Rio de Janeiro is a vibrant Oriental Floral fragrance crafted by Mark Buxton. The composition opens with the bright and juicy notes of passionfruit, pineapple, and cassis, creating an immediate sense of tropical exuberance. This freshness then transitions into a heart of coconut and almond, adding a sweet and creamy layer that feels both comforting and indulgent. The base notes of guaiac wood, cedarwood, sandalwood, amber, musk, olibanum, and vanilla provide warmth and depth, grounding the fragrance with rich woody and powdery undertones.
Apply two sprays to pulse points for a balanced experience. The fruity top notes are bright but fade quickly, so reapply every few hours if you want them to linger. The woody base develops slowly over time, making it perfect for an afternoon that turns into evening.

Mark Buxton
The blind-test prodigyMark Buxton, born in England and raised near Hamburg, entered perfumery almost by accident: at 21, a German game show challenge to identify 600 perfumes by scent alone caught the attention of Haarmann & Reimer, who offered him a place in their Paris training program.
