The Story

Launched in 2017 by Roja Dove, Pierre de Velay No. 56 is a sophisticated chypre fragrance that balances fresh and warm elements with remarkable depth. The composition opens with the bright freshness of bergamot and lavender before transitioning into a heart of ylang-ylang, may rose, violet, and geranium, infusing the scent with floral warmth and complexity. At its core, Pierre de Velay No. 56 features rich woods like agarwood (oud), leather, oakmoss, and orris root, coupled with earthy notes of patchouli and saffron, creating an enveloping embrace that is both powdery and leathery. The base layers of opoponax, cashmere wood, nutmeg, vanilla, cinnamon, pepper, and musk add a spicy, amber warmth that lingers on the skin.

Application Tips

Given the richness of its base notes, Pierre de Velay No. 56 benefits from being applied closer to the skin rather than sprayed into the air. A light application is recommended for daytime wear, as it builds gradually over time. For a more intense experience, apply directly onto pulse points and allow it to develop fully.
