Violet and heliotrope do almost all the talking here, and together they land somewhere between a bouquet and a box of old-fashioned face powder — cool, slightly metallic, faintly sweet. Lilac and arum lily keep the florals from tipping into full cosmetic territory, and a base of musk, amber and vanilla warms the whole thing gradually rather than sweetening it outright. It's a quiet, close composition with almost no citrus or green top note to distract from that powdery core.
Because this stays close to the skin rather than projecting outward, two or three sprays on pulse points work better than one on clothing. The powdery violet-heliotrope core shows up almost immediately and barely shifts over the following hours, so what you smell at first is close to what you'll smell all day.
