The story behind the bottle.
Launched in 2025 and crafted by the renowned perfumer Alberto Morillas, Black Lava by Zara is a Woody Spicy fragrance designed to evoke a sense of depth and warmth. The composition opens with bright citrus notes from bergamot and mandarin, which give way to the fresh spiciness of pink pepper. These top notes create an immediate contrast against the earthy, woody base that includes cedarwood and cypriol. Frankincense adds an element of complexity, while musk grounds the fragrance with its powdery warmth.
This fragrance blooms best when applied to pulse points and left to settle for about an hour. The citrus top notes are vibrant but fleeting, so it's the woody base that carries its warmth throughout the day. It reads better close to skin than in a wide sillage.
