The story behind the bottle.
Launched in 2016 by Zoologist Perfumes, Beaver Edition 2016 is a fragrance that marries the earthy warmth of leather with aquatic freshness and smoky undertones. Created by perfumer Chris Bartlett, this composition opens with ozonic notes and lime, leading to a heart of green and woody accords before settling into a base of musk, castoreum, and dark woods. The interplay between the crisp aquatic top and the rich leather base creates an intriguing tension that speaks to both its animalic elements and its modernity.
Beaver Edition 2016 has a strong leather note that projects well, so one or two sprays are sufficient. The ozonic top notes fade quickly after an hour, but the musky and woody base notes continue to evolve throughout the day.

Chris Bartlett
Chris J M Bartlett, who passed away in July 2024, had a lifelong interest in perfume dating to his early teens, though his career spanned IT, national security, and government relations before he founded the fragrance house Pell Wall, providing hand-made scents and, eventually, one of the widest retail ranges of fragrance ingredients for perfumers worldwide.
