The story behind the bottle.
Launched in 2019 by Zoologist Perfumes and crafted by perfumer Céline Barel, Squid is an aromatic aquatic fragrance that captures the essence of the ocean's depths. The scent opens with a salty freshness from sea salt and amyl salicylate, evoking the briny air at the water’s edge. This marine note gives way to a heart of pink pepper and ink, creating a distinctive contrast between the sharpness of the spices and the subtle smokiness of the ink. In the base, ambergris and benzoin blend with musk to create a warm, enveloping finish that feels both intimate and mysterious.
Apply this fragrance in light layers; it develops best close to the skin rather than projecting far into the room. The salty and spicy notes are most prominent during the first hour, while the warm base notes emerge gradually over time.
