Launched in 2020 by Zoologist Perfumes and crafted by Pascal Gaurin, Musk Deer is a Floral Woody Musk fragrance that weaves together the warmth of cardamom and calamus with the depth of Laotian oud and sandalwood. The composition opens with an aromatic spiciness that transitions into a heart of rose and jasmine sambac, before settling into a powdery musk base enriched by labdanum and orris. This fragrance is a study in contrasts — its bright, spicy top notes give way to a richly enveloping warmth that feels both modern and lasting.
Musk Deer develops best when applied directly to pulse points. The spicy top notes dissipate within the first hour, so aim for a second application if you want them to linger. The musky base blooms slowly over time, making this fragrance ideal for evening wear or cooler evenings.
