The story behind the bottle.
Launched in 2026, Velvet Steps by Bottega Veneta is an Oriental Woody fragrance that marries the warmth of amber and spicy notes with the earthy richness of woods and balsams. The composition opens with plum and frankincense, creating a tension between fruity sweetness and incense-like depth. This contrast gives way to a heart of ylang-ylang and labdanum, which adds both floral softness and resinous warmth. The base notes of ambrocenide and musk provide a grounding, sensual finish that lingers on the skin.
Apply Velvet Steps to pulse points for a lasting effect — the plum and frankincense top notes are relatively short-lived, but the base notes build steadily over time. This fragrance works best in cooler environments where its warm, enveloping qualities can truly shine.
