Launched in 2011 by Estée Lauder, Wood Mystique is a composition that marries the richness of oud with the warmth of florals and leather. The fragrance opens with pink pepper and peony, creating an initial burst of freshness that gives way to a heart of rose, jasmine, and ylang-ylang, where sweetness and floral notes blend seamlessly. As it settles into a base of oud, patchouli, and cedar, Wood Mystique transforms into a deep, enveloping warmth, hinting at the luxurious textures of leather and benzoin.
Wood Mystique develops best close to skin; apply it in a small area like the wrist or neck for an intimate warmth that builds throughout the day. The top notes are fleeting, so layering on more as they fade can help maintain its enveloping character.
