French Lover 20 Ans by Frederic Malle was launched in 2020 and is the work of perfumer Pierre Bourdon. This fragrance opens with a burst of chili pepper, galbanum, and angelica, creating an aromatic and green contrast that immediately captures attention. As it develops, the composition leans into warm spicy and woody notes, including cedar, patchouli, vetiver, and incense, which settle into a musky base. This blend results in a scent that is both earthy and luxurious, embodying the essence of Frederic Malle’s commitment to high-quality niche perfumery.
One to two sprays are sufficient — the chili pepper top note is striking but fades within an hour. The musky base notes take center stage after that, so it's best applied in the morning for a full day’s wear.
