Created by Cartier's in-house perfumer Mathilde Laurent, La Panthere is a chypre floral that aims to evoke the dual nature of a feline and floral hybrid. The fragrance opens with dried fruits and rhubarb, giving way to a heart of gardenia and rose, which are meant to capture the essence of a honeyed sweetness. However, the reception has been polarized: some find it warm and sensual like a comforting purr, while others describe it as sharp and animalic, akin to a midnight howl. The base notes of oakmoss, musk, patchouli, and leather further accentuate this tension between warmth and intensity.
