HeartThe Soul
The story behind the bottle.
Launched in 1931, Scandal by Lanvin is a chypre fragrance that encapsulates the bold and daring spirit of its era. Created by perfumer André Fraysse, it opens with a bright citrus-aromatic blend featuring clary sage, neroli, bergamot, Amalfi lemon, and mandarin orange. The heart introduces floral notes like iris, ylang-ylang, and rose, which are then enveloped in a rich base of leather, oak moss, incense, benzoin, vetiver, and vanilla. This composition creates a striking contrast between the fresh top notes and the warm, smoky base, making it a lasting fragrance that feels both classic and daring.
Scandal’s citrus notes are bright and fleeting, so apply it liberally to ensure they catch your nose. The smoky base takes about an hour to bloom fully on the skin, so give it time to develop before you reapply. Ideal for evening wear when the warm leather and mossy tones can linger into the night.
