The story behind the bottle.
Launched in 1937 by Lanvin and crafted by perfumer André Fraysse, Pretexte is an Oriental Floral fragrance that embodies the elegance of French haute couture. The composition opens with a vibrant aldehydic accord, giving way to a heart of narcissus, rose, and iris, which intertwine beautifully. The base notes of leather, amber, and musk create a warm and sensual finish. This fragrance was a groundbreaking creation for its time, blending the sophistication of floral accords with the raw sensuality of animalic and leather notes.
Pretexte has a long-lasting base that requires minimal application. A single spray will allow the fragrance to evolve gracefully throughout the day. It is best suited for evening wear when its rich notes can fully unfold.
