Blanche Bête by Les Liquides Imaginaires was launched in 2021 and has quickly become one of the most reviewed fragrances in niche enthusiast circles. Created by perfumer Louise Turner, this Floral Woody Musk fragrance is known for its unusually soft, cloud-like milky-lactonic coconut character, setting it apart from typical sweet gourmand scents. The opening notes of milk and ambrette (musk mallow) create a delicate, ethereal atmosphere that transitions into the floral heart of tuberose, jasmine, and incense before settling on a base of vanilla, musk, tonka bean, and cacao. Reception has been polarized: while some find it highly complimented for its ethereal quality, others describe the coconut opening as overwhelming or the drydown as developing a sour edge.
Apply Blanche Bête lightly — the milky opening can be overpowering if used too heavily. The fragrance's lactonic character is best appreciated close to skin rather than at a distance. If you prefer a smoother drydown, avoid wearing it on humid days as this may amplify any potential sour notes.
