The story behind the bottle.
Launched in 1979, Tuxedo by Ralph Lauren was crafted by perfumer Carlos Benaïm and is a chypre floral fragrance for women. The composition opens with aromatic notes of tarragon and bergamot, which give way to a heart of white florals like jasmine, narcissus, and lily-of-the-valley. These are then anchored by warm spices such as clove and coriander, along with rich amber and musk in the base. The interplay between these elements creates an atmosphere that is both sophisticated and intimate.
Two sprays are sufficient to capture Tuxedo's layered complexity. The initial freshness fades within an hour, but the warm spicy and woody base notes linger for hours. Best worn during cooler evenings or in a cozy indoor setting.
