Leather and violet make an odd pair, and that's the point here - the leather brings a dry, slightly smoky edge while violet stays powdery and soft, and neither one gives ground. Bergamot and Amalfi lemon open things sharply, nutmeg adds a warm spike, and clary sage in the heart leans the whole thing toward something more herbal than sweet. Oakmoss and patchouli deepen the leather at the base without turning it heavy or dark. Aurélien Guichard built this as fresh-spicy citrus meeting something rougher underneath, and the friction between the two is what carries it.
The bergamot and lemon top fades within the first thirty minutes, so the leather-violet base is really the fragrance's main statement - give it time before deciding how you feel about it. It has enough presence from the leather and patchouli base to skip heavy reapplication through a workday.
