Pierre Montale's career took shape after a journey to the Kingdom of Arabia some twenty years ago, where confidential materials introduced through the Royal family inspired the olfactory universe behind the Montale perfume house, which he founded in Paris in 2003.
His fragrances rely on high-concentration natural materials and prominently feature oud, or agarwood, as a signature ingredient. In 2008 he founded a second house, Mancera, later handing its artistic direction to his daughter Amélie in 2017.
