Interlude Black Iris by Amouage, launched in 2020 and crafted by Pierre Negrin, is an Oriental Woody fragrance that blends the rich tones of powdery iris with warm spices and smoky leather. The composition opens with a fresh spicy accord, featuring violet leaf and rosemary, before settling into a heart of orris and olibanum. This is further enriched by the base notes of agarwood (oud), sandalwood, patchouli, and cedar, which create a deep, enveloping warmth. The result is a scent that feels both luxurious and intimate, capturing the essence of Amouage's heritage while pushing into new territory.
Interlude Black Iris has strong sillage and long-lasting notes, so one or two sprays are sufficient. The fragrance blooms over time, revealing its full depth best when worn close to skin rather than sprayed liberally into the air.
