Gris Charnel by BDK Parfums, launched in 2019 and crafted by perfumer Mathilde Bijaoui, is a sophisticated woody-spicy composition that has become a social-media favorite and top retail seller for the young French house. It opens with cardamom and fig, before settling into a base of iris, vetiver, sandalwood, and tonka bean. This fragrance quickly established itself as shorthand for a refined, slightly masculine-leaning woody-vanilla iris extrait, often appearing on best-of lists for cold-weather niche fragrances.
Apply two sprays to ensure the rich base notes have time to bloom. The cardamom and fig top notes are bright but brief, so it’s best to layer this scent for long-lasting warmth.
