Cristalle Eau Verte by Chanel was launched in 2009 as a modern reinterpretation of the brand’s iconic Cristalle from 1974. Perfumer Jacques Polge crafted this fragrance with a lighter green-citrus-magnolia treatment, which some purists criticized for its departure from the original chypre backbone. The scent opens with bright Amalfi lemon and bergamot before transitioning into a heart of neroli, magnolia, jasmine, and iris, all anchored by a subtle musk base. This composition is frequently compared to Chanel Chance Eau Fraiche but is noted for its more complex and layered character.
Cristalle Eau Verte has moderate longevity and sillage, so aim for two sprays to ensure the layers unfold properly. The top notes are bright but fade within an hour, making it best suited for daytime wear when you want a fresh, layered scent that evolves throughout the day.
