The story behind the bottle.
Jean-Claude Ellena launched Un Jardin sur le Nil in 2005, marking his tenure as Hermès' first in-house perfumer. This scent was inspired by the green mangoes he encountered during a trip to the Nile, bringing this tart and vibrant fruit into mainstream perfumery. The fragrance opens with sun-drenched notes of green mango and grapefruit, creating an effervescent vitality before melting into the serene embrace of lotus and frankincense. This is not just a scent that whispers—it glows, casting an ethereal veil of aquatic woods and hyacinth that feels both buoyant and grounding, as if you've stepped into a garden suspended between water and sky.
This EDT has moderate longevity and sillage, so a light spritz is enough to capture its vibrant essence. The green mango opening fades within an hour, but the aquatic-woody base continues to glow on skin for hours afterward. Best applied in the morning or early afternoon when you want a fresh, luminous presence.
