The story behind the bottle.
Launched in 1970 and crafted by perfumer Guy Robert, Equipage by Hermès is a complex Oriental Fougère that embodies the brand’s heritage of elegance and craftsmanship. The composition opens with clary sage and aldehydes, creating an aromatic freshness that quickly evolves into warm spices like nutmeg flower and cinnamon. This spicy warmth contrasts beautifully with the crisp citrus notes of bergamot and orange, leading to a heart of carnation, jasmine, and lily-of-the-valley that adds floral depth. The base is rich with oakmoss, vetiver, patchouli, tonka bean, musk, and amber, giving Equipage a profound earthiness and a long-lasting warmth.
Equipage is best applied early in the day to allow its layers to unfold. The aromatic top notes are fleeting, so aim for a few sprays on pulse points to ensure the spicy and woody base notes have time to develop fully throughout the day.
