Eugenio Alphandery, a mechanical engineer originally brought in to repair old machinery, bought the Officina Profumo Farmaceutica di Santa Maria Novella in 1989 when it had only three employees, and revived it as a global brand while modernizing its production. He personally created the Ottone and Porcellana fragrances and now serves as the company's Vice Chairman.
