Bal d'Afrique Hair Perfume by Byredo was launched in 2015 as a bold statement within the brand's signature of translating memories into scents. The fragrance opens with bright citrus notes of bergamot and lemon, juxtaposed against the earthy marigold and buchu or agathosma, which add an unexpected green freshness. As it evolves, neroli and jasmine bring floral warmth, while cyclamen and violet contribute a subtle sweetness. The base notes of vetiver, black amber, musk, and Moroccan cedar create a grounding effect, anchoring the scent with a warm, woody depth.
This fragrance is best applied directly to your hair for a lingering effect. The top notes are bright but dissipate quickly, so a heavier application allows the woody base to shine through. It reads better close to skin rather than across a room, making it perfect for an intimate setting or a quiet evening at home.
