The story behind the bottle.
Launched in 2020, Tobacco Mandarin by Byredo is a composition that balances the fresh and spicy with the rich and smoky. The fragrance opens with cumin and mandarin orange, creating an immediate contrast between bright citrus and warm spices. At its heart lies tobacco, complemented by leather and labdanum, which adds depth and complexity. The base notes of olibanum, agarwood (oud), and sandalwood create a woody, slightly animalic backdrop that keeps the scent intriguing throughout the day.
Apply this fragrance lightly to pulse points — it develops quickly on skin. The tobacco and leather notes are strong, so one or two sprays will provide plenty of presence without overpowering. It's best for cooler weather when you want a scent that feels warm and intimate.
