The story behind the bottle.

Scentsation editorial

Baiser Vole by Cartier was launched in 2011 and is the work of the brand's in-house perfumer Mathilde Laurent. The name translates to 'stolen kiss,' evoking a moment that is fleeting yet intensely memorable. Laurent crafted this composition around a meticulously reconstructed lily accord, bringing together separate notes for the leaf, petal, and stamen to create an intricate floral blend. This fragrance marked Cartier’s push towards fine perfumery, emphasizing storytelling through scent rather than mass-market appeal.

Baiser Vole opens with a bright citrus-green freshness that gives way to the layered white florals at its heart. The lily notes are soft and spicy, with an underlying hint of animalic warmth that adds depth without becoming overpowering. This composition is a delicate balance between freshness and sensuality, capturing the essence of a fleeting yet intimate moment.

How to wear it

Baiser Vole is best applied in light layers to allow its nuanced notes to unfold gradually. The citrus-green topnotes are vibrant but fleeting, so aim for two sprays to catch the initial freshness before it settles into a more intimate floral accord.
