The story behind the bottle.

Scentsation editorial

Les Exclusifs de Chanel No 22, launched in 2007 and crafted by the legendary perfumer Ernest Beaux, is a floral aldehyde masterpiece for women. The composition opens with a luminous blend of aldehydes that cut through the sweetness of the florals — lily-of-the-valley, jasmine, rose, tuberose, and ylang-ylang create an intricate bouquet over a woody base of vetiver. This fragrance embodies Chanel's enduring elegance and sophistication, echoing the brand’s legacy of lasting appeal.

How to wear it

One generous spray is enough to capture the essence of this fragrance. The aldehydes are bright but fleeting, so it’s best worn close to skin for intimate encounters rather than formal events. It blooms fully within an hour, making it perfect for a day that transitions into evening.

Ernest Beaux

The man who invented modern perfumery

Ernest Beaux is the perfumer who changed everything. Born in Moscow to a Franco-Russian family, he served as an officer in World War I before entering the laboratories of A. Rallet & Co. in Grasse.

“I went to present her with my creations – two series: 1 to 5 and 20 to 24. From these she chose several, including one labelled Number 5.”
