Launched in 1978 by Estée Lauder and crafted by perfumer Sophia Grojsman, White Linen is a Floral Aldehyde fragrance that embodies the essence of clean elegance. The composition opens with aldehydes and citrus notes like lemon, creating an immediate sense of freshness. This gives way to a heart of white florals including lily-of-the-valley, rose, and jasmine, which are then grounded by earthy accords such as oakmoss, vetiver, and cedarwood. The result is a fragrance that feels both modern and lasting.
One to two sprays on pulse points are enough — the aldehydic opening is bright but brief. The earthy base notes develop over time, so it’s best worn in cooler temperatures when you can appreciate its depth.
