Who Wears It
The story behind the bottle.
The name means 'fanciful' in French, which is either a provocation or a joke — because what Pierre-Constantin Guéros built for Givenchy's La Collection Particulière in 2024 is the opposite of light. Myrrh absolute and incense essence form the spine of the composition, not as a fleeting smoke signal but as a sustained, almost liturgical presence, while Malaysian oud drapes over both like a heavy velvet curtain pulled slow across a window. The result is amber and balsamic warmth that reads less like a perfume and more like a room sealed for a long time.
It is unisex by design, and the moderate sillage means it stays close to the wearer rather than filling a space — but the longevity is serious. This is a fragrance that outlasts the people in the room and keeps going. Givenchy has built its house on French elegance since 1952, but La Collection Particulière is where the brand stops performing glamour and simply lets rare materials speak at full volume.
The myrrh and incense top is intense for the first twenty minutes — give it a moment before you judge the whole thing. Two sprays on the chest is enough; the EDP concentration and long-lasting base mean the Malaysian oud will still be talking at hour six. It reads better in a heated, enclosed space than outdoors, where the balsamic weight can flatten.
