Launched in 2023, Le Flacon Aux Abeilles Edition Maison Matisse by Guerlain is a collaboration that celebrates the intersection of art, music, and perfume. Perfumers Delphine Jelk and Thierry Wasser have imagined Couleur Bonheur, a modern fruity chypre with olfactory notes as vibrant as Henri Matisse's palette. The fragrance opens with the freshness of bergamot and apricot, leading to a heart of rose and violet before settling into an intriguing base of iris and white leather. This composition is inspired by Matisse’s painting "La Musique," creating an olfactory interplay that echoes the artist’s colors and rhythms.
One spray is enough to capture the essence of Couleur Bonheur. The bergamot top note fades within an hour but leaves room for the more enduring rose and iris heart notes. It's best worn in the daytime when its sunny radiance can shine through.
