The story behind the bottle.

Scentsation editorial

Launched in 2005 by Lancôme, Hypnôse was created by perfumers Annick Menardo and Thierry Wasser to redefine vanilla as something more than just a sweet gourmand note. The composition opens with the vibrant freshness of passion flower, leading into the rich complexity of jasmine and gardenia, before settling into a base of vanille and vetiver that reads as both floral and warm. This fragrance was conceived around a novel 'vanilla flower' concept, elevating vanilla to a more sophisticated level. Hypnôse became a long-running department-store bestseller, cementing Annick Menardo's reputation for crafting sensual, gourmand-leaning compositions.

How to wear it

One or two sprays are enough — the top note of passion flower is bright but fleeting, while the vanille and vetiver base takes some time to bloom. This fragrance reads better close to skin than across a room, so aim for pulse points rather than an all-over spray.
