The story behind the bottle.
Launched in 2015, Wulong Cha by Nishane is an aromatic green fragrance that has built a strong niche following as an oolong tea and fig scent. Perfumer Jorge Lee crafted this composition around bergamot, orange, mandarin orange, litsea cubeba, and nutmeg to create a fresh and spicy opening that gives way to the heart of oolong tea and fig. However, it has also become a recurring subject of value-for-money debate, with critics arguing that it smells very close to Elizabeth Arden Green Tea but at a fraction of the price. The 2023 anniversary flanker Wulong Cha X intensified this criticism, with community reviewers widely noting it smells nearly identical to Elizabeth Arden Green Tea despite Nishane's much higher price point.
One spray is sufficient — this fragrance develops quickly on the skin. The citrus top notes are bright but don't linger long, while the oolong tea and fig base notes provide a lasting warmth. It's best for daytime wear when you want a subtle yet distinctive scent.
