The story behind the bottle.
Black Gold, launched by Ormonde Jayne in 2014 and crafted by perfumer Geza Schoen, is a complex aromatic woody fragrance that balances bright citrus notes with rich floral and earthy accords. The composition opens with lemon and juniper berries, creating a fresh and spicy contrast to the deep, sensual oud at its heart. Bergamot and clary sage add layers of complexity, while rose, carnation, orchid, jasmine, and water lily bring a lush floral bouquet that is both refined and intense. The base notes of agarwood (oud), moss, cedar, sandalwood, pink pepper, vetiver, amber, labdanum, patchouli, vanilla, musk, and ambrette create a warm and enveloping finish.
Apply Black Gold in light layers, allowing it to develop slowly on your skin. The citrus top notes are fleeting but essential for setting up the rich base notes, which take about an hour to fully bloom. It’s best worn during cooler parts of the day or evening when the warmth and depth of its accords can be appreciated.
