The story behind the bottle.
Launched in 2020 by Ormonde Jayne and crafted by Céline Ripert, Byzance is a woody-amber composition that weaves together rich, powdery notes with warm vanilla and suede. The fragrance opens with the freshness of cassis and pink pepper, giving way to a heart of white woods and cashmere wood. This creates an intriguing tension between crisp edges and enveloping warmth, culminating in a base that is both musky and balsamic, with hints of iris and moss. Byzance is neither purely floral nor overly spicy, but rather a nuanced blend that speaks to the complexity of its namesake city.
Apply Byzance with two sprays — the initial freshness fades within an hour but the rich base notes continue to develop for hours. It is best worn close to skin, as it reads better in intimate settings rather than across a room.
