Muscat

The particular sweetness of a Middle Eastern kitchen after a long cooking session — dates on the counter, halva cut into squares, air thick with cardamom and smoke.

The story behind the bottle.

Scentsation editorial

Halva — that dense, sesame-heavy confection — is the note doing the most unexpected work in this composition. In a fragrance anchored by oud, olibanum, and saffron, Celine Ripert (2021) threads halva alongside dates and cinnamon, and the sweetness suddenly carries a specific cultural address rather than a generic gourmand one. Smoky resin and oakmoss pull the whole thing down into something grounded and almost architectural, while rose oil and cardamom keep it from collapsing into pure resin.

"Muscat" is a deliberate misdirection as a name: it evokes wine, Mediterranean light, something almost crisp. What you get is the opposite — a dense, warm, strong-sillage EDP that reads as a room rather than a person. Long on skin, unisex, it sits in the space between a prayer and a feast.

How to wear it

Three sprays maximum — the strong sillage and EDP concentration mean this fills a small room within minutes, and the halva-and-dates sweetness is what everyone notices first. Give it twenty minutes before judging the base; the oud and olibanum need time to overtake the sugar and read as smoke rather than confection. It will outlast a full workday without a second application.
