The story behind the bottle.
Nombre Noir, launched in 1982 by Shiseido and crafted by Serge Lutens and Jean-Yves Leroy, is a complex Oriental Woody fragrance that balances bright aldehydes with rich, warm spices. The opening notes of aldehydes and bergamot create an immediate freshness, while the heart of damask rose, jasmine, and ylang-ylang adds a lush floral layer. This floral bouquet transitions seamlessly into a base of sandalwood, musk, and amber, which provide warmth and depth without overpowering the composition.
Apply two sprays to your pulse points for optimal longevity. The aldehydes fade quickly, so it’s best to let the fragrance develop over time. This scent reads better close to skin than in a wide sillage, making it perfect for intimate settings.
