Launched in 2017 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Shiseido's MG 5 brand, this fragrance is a tribute to the original that swept fashionable men in the Showa era. The composition opens with bright citruses, leading into a floral heart before settling into woody notes. It captures the essence of "Retro Japanese Modern" — a blend of nostalgia and contemporary style that evokes the fashion and culture of Japan's Showa 30s and 40s.
This fragrance blooms best close to skin — one or two sprays are enough for it to develop fully. It's better suited for daytime wear, as the citrus opening brightens up the early hours before settling into its warm base.
