The story behind the bottle.
Narcisse Noir by Caron, created in 1911 by Ernest Daltroff and Jean Jacques, is a fragrance that seamlessly blends the delicate purity of white florals with the sensuality of musk and animalic notes. This composition opens with a bright citrus freshness before revealing its core of rose and orange blossom. The powdery and woody accords provide a grounding warmth, while the musky undertones add an element of intrigue. Narcisse Noir has been celebrated through history for its distinctive charm — Gloria Swanson demanded it scent the set of Sunset Boulevard, Serge Diaghilev’s principal dancers wore it during performances, and Dita Von Teese remains among its devoted fans today.
This fragrance is best applied in two light sprays. The citrus top notes fade within an hour but allow the rose and musk to take center stage. It pairs well with warmer evenings or indoor settings where its rich nuances can fully unfold.
