Launched in 2008 and created by perfumer Antoine Lie, 8 88 by Comme des Garcons is a fragrance that embodies the brand's avant-garde approach to design. The composition opens with warm spicy notes of turmeric and coriander, which are soon embraced by the earthy richness of papyrus and saffron. As it settles, geranium and incense add an aromatic layer, while amber and patchouli ground the scent in a smoky, woody warmth that reads as leathery and complex. This is not just a fragrance but a sensory experience designed to challenge and engage.
This fragrance blooms slowly on the skin. Start with two sprays to allow the warm spicy notes to meld with the earthy base over time. It pairs well with cooler weather but can also add depth to summer evenings when worn close to the skin.
