Launched in 2003 by Goutal, Duel is a Woody Aromatic fragrance for men that captures the essence of contrast and complexity. Created by perfumers Camille Goutal and Isabelle Doyen, this composition opens with holly and petitgrain, providing a fresh spicy and green introduction. As it evolves, artemisia and orris root add an herbal twist, while guaiac wood and leather bring depth and warmth. The powdery musk base ensures that Duel is both ruggedly earthy and subtly refined.
One or two sprays will suffice — the bright top notes fade within an hour but the base notes continue to evolve throughout the day. This fragrance reads best close to skin, so aim for pulse points rather than spraying liberally into the air.
