Who Wears It
The story behind the bottle.
Launched in 1959 by Jean-Paul Guerlain, Vetiver Eau de Toilette is a pioneering composition that established vetiver as a star ingredient in modern masculine perfumery. It opens with the bright, almost tart kiss of lemon and bergamot, before revealing a sophisticated tobacco-tinged heart that feels both intellectual and sensual. The base unfolds into a grounding embrace of vetiver and tonka bean—earthy yet sweetly comforting, like leather-bound books in a mahogany study warmed by afternoon light.
This fragrance has moderate longevity and sillage, so a single spray is often enough to maintain its subtle presence throughout the day. The vetiver base takes about an hour to fully bloom, so it's best applied before you need that grounding comfort.
