Who Wears It
The story behind the bottle.
Launched in 1889 by Aimé Guerlain, Jicky is a pioneering Oriental Fougère fragrance that set new standards for perfumery. This composition opens with bright citrus notes like bergamot and lemon, quickly giving way to aromatic lavender and rosemary. The heart introduces the floral warmth of jasmine and orris root, while the base melds vanilla, tonka bean, and spices into a rich blend of powdery and woody textures. Jicky was the first perfume to incorporate synthetic materials like coumarin, marking a significant shift in fragrance creation.
Jicky has moderate longevity and sillage, so applying it in light layers allows its complex notes to unfold gradually. The citrus top notes are bright but fade quickly, making the base's powdery and woody accords more prominent over time.
