The story behind the bottle.
Launched in 2017 by Guerlain and crafted by perfumers Thierry Wasser and Delphine Jelk, Lui is an oriental spicy fragrance that embodies the warmth of French elegance. The composition opens with clove and pear, creating a tension between sweet and spicy notes. This contrast is further accentuated by the heart of carnation and vanilla, which adds a soft floral sweetness. As it settles into its base, benzoin, smoke, leather, woody notes, and musk create an enveloping warmth that reads as smoky and leathery. Lui's blend of luxury materials and innovative use of synthetic components is in keeping with Guerlain’s legacy of combining rare ingredients with modern perfumery techniques.
Two sprays are sufficient for this fragrance. The clove and pear top notes fade quickly, so it's best to rely on its rich base notes that bloom over time. It’s perfect for evening wear when you want a scent that feels intimate and warm.
