Who Wears It
The story behind the bottle.
Muguet (original) by Guerlain was launched in 1908 and is the work of Jacques Guerlain, who crafted it as an ode to lily-of-the-valley. The fragrance opens with a bright burst of lemon and citrus before settling into a lush heart of lily-of-the-valley, rose, and freesia. The base notes of iris and ylang-ylang add depth and warmth, creating a composition that is both fresh and powdery. Muguet (original) has become an enduring symbol of French elegance, capturing the essence of spring with its delicate floral accords.
Apply this fragrance in light layers — it develops its full character within an hour. Muguet (original) reads best close to skin rather than filling a room, making it ideal for daytime wear where subtlety is key.

Jacques Guerlain
The poet of the golden ageJacques Guerlain is one of the greatest perfumers who ever lived — the man who gave the world Shalimar, Mitsouko, L'Heure Bleue, and Vol de Nuit. As the third-generation perfumer of the House of Guerlain, he elevated the family craft into high art.
“Perfumery? It is a matter of patience.”
Jacques Guerlain · As recalled by Marcel Billot, Parfumerie, Cosmétique, Savons, 1964
