Navigator by Houbigant was launched in 1996 as a Woody Aromatic fragrance for men that captures the essence of adventure and exploration. The opening notes of juniper and lemon provide a fresh, spicy kick that feels like a breath of crisp morning air on a coastal voyage. As it settles into a heart of lavender and patchouli, the composition becomes more complex, offering a warm and powdery base with nutmeg, musk, vetiver, sandalwood, tonka bean, and amber. This fragrance is neither too loud nor too subtle; instead, it strikes a balance between modernity and tradition.
Navigator has moderate longevity and sillage, so one to two sprays should suffice. The citrus notes are bright but fleeting, while the powdery base notes provide a lasting warmth that feels both intimate and enduring. It pairs well with cooler weather when its woody and musky qualities come into their own.
