The story behind the bottle.
Created by perfumers Luca Maffei and Antoine Lie, Ambre Rubis by Houbigant was launched in 2024 as an Oriental fragrance for both women and men. The composition opens with a burst of red berries and pink pepper, which immediately create a fresh yet sweet tension. As the scent evolves, incense and jasmine lend warmth and depth, while rum and ambergris add a rich, balsamic note that anchors the entire creation in a luxurious embrace.
The woody base of cedar and fir resin grounds Ambre Rubis, giving it a sense of lastingness and elegance befitting its French heritage. This is not just a fragrance but an olfactory experience that balances fruity vibrancy with amber's enduring warmth.
Ambre Rubis takes about an hour to fully settle on skin. Start with one spray; it’s rich enough that less can be more. The fragrance reads best close to the skin rather than projecting widely, making it ideal for intimate settings or cooler evenings.
