The story behind the bottle.
Launched in 1929 by Houbigant, Presence is a Chypre fragrance that exemplifies the brand's French elegance. Raymond Kling crafted this composition with an array of notes that balance freshness and warmth. The aldehydes and citrus elements create a bright opening, while the heart of neroli, jasmine, carnation, and heliotrope adds floral depth. Oakmoss, mossy woods, and earthy accords blend seamlessly into a base of musk, ambergris, sandalwood, vetiver, and patchouli, grounding the scent with an enduring, powdery warmth.
Presence has moderate longevity and sillage, so two sprays are usually sufficient. The citrus and aldehydes fade quickly, leaving the heart and base to develop over time. It pairs well with warmer weather but also provides a comforting warmth in cooler settings.
